William D. Thomas II D.O.  FACOI, FAAP, FACOP, CAQSM
Board Certified; Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Sports Medicine

William Thomas, DO

Dr. William Thomas started in health care as a Respiratory Therapist back in 1992.  Different experiences in that field led him to become a corpsman (medic) in the U. S. Navy, and that in turn led him to medical school at the Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM). When in medical school he enjoyed everything and had a hard time deciding on a residency. During his internship year at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pennsylvania, he really liked the Internal Medicine/Pediatric residency program there and was able to continue his training at the same institution. As an IM/Peds physician, Dr. Thomas treated children and adults, and in outpatient clinics or hospital settings.

After residency, Dr. Thomas wanted to continue his specialization in Sports Medicine. Having attended medical school at VCOM in Blacksburg, and knowing the strong affiliation with Virginia Tech, he decided to join the Sports Medicine Fellowship program at VCOM–one of the top sports medicine departments and staff in the country.  He stayed in the area to teach at VCOM and settle with his family here after his Fellowship training.

Dr. Thomas enjoys biking and hiking, and most outdoor activities. While he enjoys traveling,  he loves anything involving the ocean, especially boating or SCUBA diving.
